What Constitutes a Suspended License in Rockland County?

Generally speaking, if you have 11 points or more within 18 months, your license can be suspended. Even if you haven’t reached 11 points within 18 months, the DMV can issue you a suspension for too many tickets.

The Department of Motor Vehicles can also suspend your license if you have been issued a ticket with a speed that is deemed excessive. If you are caught speeds in excess of 40 miles an hour and greater over the speed limit, the DMV could suspend your license. Even if you plea bargained the charges to a lesser ticket, they still have the authority to look at the original speed and judge accordingly.

They also have the ability to look at your general license in connection with a DWI conviction and impose a separate suspension period on top of what the judge imposes for the DWI conviction.
