In New York State if you’re caught driving without insurance, you can be charged with a misdemeanor grade offense. If you don’t have your license with you or your license has been suspended for failure to pay tickets or a DWI and you’re caught driving, you are facing an aggravated unlicensed ticket, which is often a misdemeanor charge.
This is a criminal offense. Many times, we’re able to reduce the charge or have the charge dismissed upon proof as to the explanation behind what resulted in the suspension. It is a serious offense and you need to deal with it and treat it seriously.
