NY Taking Steps to Combat Drug Abuse

New York State has recently announced that it will make several millions of dollars available to services that work towards combating drug addiction throughout the state. $4.5 million will be granted to create nine Open Access Centers that are open 24 hours/7 days a week that can assist people struggling with drug addiction and substance abuse issues.

Additionally, there will be a number of recovery centers opened in high schools throughout the state that can provide a safe and sober environment for high schoolers that are struggling with substance abuse. These schools will offer a number of treatment, support, and recovery services to students as they also complete their regular high school curriculum. This encourages students to get their education while also receiving the support and treatment they need to overcome the difficulties of substance abuse.

Substance abuse is a tremendous issue that is plaguing much of the country. Many of these individuals who are struggling with substance abuse get arrested on drug charges but really just need rehabilitation and detox services.
