If you are someone who lives in Upstate New York, to receive a gun permit, you will apply with County Court through the county clerk’s, sheriff’s, or court clerk’s office. Your application must contain information that confirms you are, in fact, eligible to apply for a gun. You will have to include:

  • Whether you have a criminal history
  • Your mental health history
  • Character references
  • Your Social Security Number
  • A physical description
  • Your name, date of birth, and address
