6 injured in wrong-way drunk driving crash

This past weekend, six people were injured in Pearl River, New York as a result of one driver’s bad decisions. The driver, who was intoxicated, crossed over into the lane of oncoming traffic, resulting in a crash with another vehicle. Not only was the driver intoxicated, he was also driving without a license. The driver, his passenger, and the four individuals in the other car involved in the collision were injured. Five of those people were injured seriously.

People who drive under the influence of alcohol are facing serious criminal consequences, especially when they cause other people to become injured. In this particular situation, the driver was charged with a driving while intoxicated misdemeanor and felony charges including first-degree vehicular assault and first-degree aggravated unlicensed vehicle operation. These are serious penalties and it is likely that the driver will face jail time.

Vehicular assault is a charge assigned when the driver has caused serious physical injury to another person while they are under the influence of alcohol. This crime itself is a Class D felony in New York State, which can result in up to seven years in prison. This crime, combined with the others, is very serious.

If you have been charged with driving under the influence, vehicular assault, or unlicensed driving, it is essential to have the strong legal representation necessary to work on protecting your future.
